2015 Movie Preview – Part 2 (Summer)

We continue our preview of 2015 in film by showcasing a summer full of major blockbusters! This summer will be full of comedies, superheroes, dinosaurs, swashbuckling adventures and plenty of minions. If you haven’t checked out Part 1 yet, click here. Avengers: Age of Ultron – May 1, 2015

Kicking off the summer, the Avengers assemble in the upcoming superhero movie ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’. Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Hulk, Nick Fury, Hawk Eye and the Black Widow find themselves face-to-face with their greatest foe yet, the robotic Ultron. Joining this cast of superheroes are the Maxinoff twins, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, and Vision. The movie comes complete with an allstar line up consisting of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner and Film Mention’s Best Actress of 2014 Scarlett Johansson. Joining the cast is Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, James Spader and in addition to his role as JARVIS, Paul Bettany will be playing Vision.


Mad Max: Fury Road – May 15, 2015

30 years after the Thunderdome, Mad Max comes to the big screen for a fourth time in ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’. Taking over the reins from Mel Gibson, Tom Hardy stars as Max in the epic post apocalyptic adventure across Australia. In addition to Hardy, Nicholas Hoult and Oscar winner Charlize Theron star in this film.


Pitch Perfect 2 – May 15, 2015

The pitch is back! The highly anticipated sequel to the 2012 breakout hit ‘Pitch Perfect’ arrives in theaters this summer. The Bellas find themselves competing against acapella groups from all over the world in a competition that no American group has ever won. Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Adam DeVine, Skylar Astin, Hailee Seinfeld and Elizabeth Banks all star in ‘Pitch Perfect 2’. Banks also has come on as director of the movie.


Tomorrowland – May 22, 2015

Inspired by the futuristic themed land at Disney parks, ‘Tomorrowland’ takes us on a journey to another world through space and time. Not a whole lot is known about the plot just yet but the George Clooney staring film is sure to be a hit with Disney fans.


Paper Towns – June 5, 2015

Based off of the best selling novel by John Green, ‘Paper Towns’ is sure to give us the teen romance flick we are looking for in summer 2015. From the studio that brought us ‘The Fault in Our Stars’, this movie is sure to leave us crying and a shell of our former selves just like every other thing John Green touches. The movie stars ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ alum Nat Wolff and supermodel Cara Delevingne as our two lead characters Q and Margo.


Jurassic World – June 12, 2015

2015 is the year of long overdue sequels! ‘Jurassic World’ comes to theaters 14 years after ‘Jurassic Park III’ and looks to give us more of what we love from these films. The Steven Speilberg executive produced film takes us to the island of Isla Nublar where there is a fully operational dinosaur park. At this park they start genetically-modifying dinosaurs and this unleashes havoc upon the park. ‘Jurassic World’ stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Film Mention’s Best Actor and Breakout of 2014 Chris Pratt.


Inside Out – June 19, 2015

There is not shortage of animated fanfare in 2015 with the help of Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’. The animated flick centers around the emotions of a little girl named Riley and how they adjust to moving to a new town. The emotions at play in this film are Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. The characters of the film are voiced by Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Mindy Kaling, Diane Lane, Phyllis Smith and Lewis Black.


Terminator Genisys – July 1, 2015

Audiences find themselves once again witnessing the Terminator, Sarah Connor and John Connor try to prevent Judgement Day from happening. Arnold Schwarzenegger returns to the iconic role of the Terminator and is joined by Emilia Clarke, Matt Smith, Jai Courtney and Jason Clarke.


Minions – July 10, 2015

A spin-off based off of the highly successful ‘Despicable Me’ series, centers around the famous minion characters. The minions are recruited by super villain Scarlet Overkill (Sandra Bullock) and her husband Herb (Jon Hamm) to help them take over the world. Michael Keaton also lends his voice to this upcoming animated comedy.


Ant-Man – July 17, 2015

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ showed audiences that relatively unknown superheroes can produce massive box office success and ‘Ant-Man’ is poised to be the next breakout hit. Ant-Man who has the ability to shrink in size but increase in strength must pull off a massive heist that will save the world. The movie stars Paul Rudd as the titular character, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and Bobby Cannavale.


Pan – July 24, 2015

The latest adaptation of the Peter Pan comes to theaters in the form of ‘Pan’. The movie tells the origins of Peter and how he found himself in Neverland. The movie stars Levi Miller as Peter Pan, Hugh Jackman as Black Beard, Garrett Hedlund as Hook and Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily.


The Fantastic Four – August 7, 2015

Recently, Sony has been rebooting all of its superhero franchises and The Fantastic Four is no different. Little is known about the film so far except for the cast which is comprised of Kate Mara, Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell and Tobby Kebbell.
