After Fox started shifting around their release dates, Universal is following suit, announcing that the ‘Untitled Bourne Sequel’ starring Matt Damon has been pushed back two weeks. The film was originally scheduled to hit theaters on July 15, 2016 but has now moved to the July 29.
This will be the first film in the series since ‘Bourne Ultimatum’ to star Matt Damon as Jason Bourne. The series will also see director Paul Greengrass return whom directed ‘Ultimatum’ and ‘Bourne Supremacy’.
In its new release date, the film will avoid having to compete with ‘Ice Age 5’ and the newest Star Trek film which would be in its second weekend of release. Its current slot, it will be released the same day as the comedy ‘Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates’. The film will have some tough competition in its second weekend when the DC Comics superhero flick ‘Suicide Squad’ is released.
