After acquiring the rights to ‘Star Wars’, Disney has made it no secret that they will be integrating the franchise into their theme parks. Disney CEO Bob Iger has often been quoted saying that the new films will be featured heavily at the parks. Now Iger has spoken with Wall Street analysts about future plans, saying that an announcement will be made in 2015.
“Fairly soon, I’m sure we’ll be ready to go public with some specifics. But it’s safe to say that you’ll see a lot more Star Wars at Disney and at Disney parks in the near future.”
The CEO has called the park “ambitious” and that it will most likely be featured in several parks across the world. This report comes not long after those claiming that Disney scrapped original plans for a ‘Star Wars’ themed park after the new Harry Potter expansion at Universal proved to be far superior. Also, if I had to guess, the Star Wars themed park would be a part of Hollywood Studios in Orlando due to the closure of several attractions around the pre-existing Star Tours ride.
