Warner Bros. and MGM Join Forces on ‘Tomb Raider’ Reboot

Warner Bros. has joined MGM and Oscar winner Graham King to co-finance the upcoming ‘Tomb Raider’ reboot.

MGM acquired the film rights in 2013, partnering with King’s GK Films whom acquired the ‘Tomb Raider’ rights from video game developer Square Enix in 2011. ‘Divergent’ screenwriter Evan Daugherty has been tapped to write the script.

The reboot is expected to focus on a younger Lara croft who will be setting out on her first adventure.

The video game franchise was first adapted for the big screen in 2001 when Angeline Jolie stared in ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’
