Disney has finally got its Beast! Dan Stevens who is most well-known for his role as Matthew Crawley on ‘Downton Abbey’ has been cast as the Beast in the live-action remake ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
Bill Condon will be directed from a script by Evan Spiliotopoulos with Stephen Chbosky reworking the draft. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman will be producing the film.
Disney has experienced huge success lately with their most recent obsession of recreating their old animated classics. ‘Maleficent’ earned $758.4 million at the international box office and ‘Cinderella’ is already predicting huge numbers for its opening weekend later this month.
The original fairytale tells the story of a Belle who is taken prisoner by the Beast. In the end the two fall in love, transforming the monstrous beast back into a handsome prince.
Filming is scheduled to begin later this year.
‘Beauty and the Beast’ is currently in production and stars Emma Watson and Dan Stevens. The film will be directed by Bill Condon.
