‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ directed James Gunn revealed on Twitter and Facebook today that Marvel Studios will not be participating in this year’s Comic Con.
Marvel has used Comic Con to launch many of its movies, dating back to the first Iron Man movie. Announcements from them have become one of the most anticipated moments of the convention, with fans getting their first taste of ‘Ant-Man’ and the ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ at last year’s event.
If Marvel does what it did last year and hold an event several months later to announce its entire new slate of movies, fans can expect a similar event later this year. Disney won’t be neglecting the event though, with many rumors swirling that the studio will reveal more information about ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ which arrives in theaters 5 months after the convention.
This gives Warner Bros. the opportunity to be the major super hero player at San Diego Comic Con where they are expected to reveal more from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
San Diego Comic Con takes place from July 9 – 12.
