Johnny Depp has sustained an undisclosed injury while on location in Australia for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’.
The actor injured his hand and is being flown to the United States for surgery said an insider to The Wrap. These insiders also report that Depp was not on set at the time of the injury. It is unclear what caused the injury at this time.
A Disney spokesperson confirmed the injury and that the July 7, 2017 release date will not change. This seems to confirm the news that this injury will “minimally” impact the production and that the filmmaker will film around scenes containing Captain Jack Sparrow.
Filming began last month in Australia with Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning directing from a script written by Jeff Nathanson.
‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ comes to theaters July 7th, 2017 and stars Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, Orlando Bloom, Brenton Thwaites, Martin Klebba, Geoffrey Rush and Kevin McNally. The film is directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg.
