Meryl Streep’s ‘Suffragette’ Picked Up by Focus Features

Focus Features has bought the North American distribution rights to the Meryl Streep and Carey Mulligan starring drama ‘Suffragette’. The rights were purchased from Pathe.

In addition to North America, Focus also acquired the rights to distribute in Latin America, South Korea, India, and the majority of Eastern Europe. The film will be released by Universal Pictures International in those territories.

The British film was directed by Sarah Gavron from a script written by Abi Morgan. In addition to Streep and Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson and Anne-Marie Duff also star.

The story is about Carey Mulligan’s character who realizes that as a working mother and wife, she must fight for respect in the workplace and at home in a male dominated world. The film

‘Suffragette’ comes to theaters Fall 2015 and stars Meryl Streep, Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson and Anne-Marie Duff. The film is directed by Sarah Gavron.
