‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ directors Joe and Anthony Russo will be taking the Avengers reins from Joss Whedon, directing part 1 and 2 of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.
Sources of THR say that the brothers will direct the two films at once, beginning sometime in 2016. The films do not have any writers attached at this time but it is safe to assume that the duo will reteam with frequent Marvel screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The collaborated with one another on ‘Captain America; The Winter Soldier’ and on Captain America’s third outing, ‘Captain America: Civil War’.
The news comes not long after Russo’s signed a three year first-look deal with Sony. This raises questions about how active the directors will be in this deal considering an already packed line-up until 2019.
