Film executive Harvey Weinstein was questioned on Saturday by the NYPD after a a 22-year-old woman accused him of groping her during a meeting in Manhattan, according to the police department.
Weinstein voluntarily went in for questioning and have not been charged with any crime at this time. His representative Ken Sunshine, released the following statement about the accusations:
“We are cooperating fully with the authorities and are confident that we will be fully vindicated. We will have no further comment.”
The woman, whose name has not been released by police, said that the producer asked her if her breasts are real and then groped her. The two did not know each other before meeting for the first time at Radio City Music Hall where Weinstein is producing a show called ‘New York Spring Spectacular’.
According to an official who spoke to The New York Times, the two exchanged emails and met on Friday at his office at the Tribeca Film Center. They would meet again on Saturday in private where the incident occurred.
Weinstein was brought in for questioning around 5 p.m. at the First Precinct, where he talked for awhile until everntually asking for a lawyer.
