When ‘Furious 7’ hits theaters this weekend, the movie will become the widest-ever IMAX global release ever.
Beginning its role-out on April 1, Furious 7 will reach more than 800 IMAX theaters across the globe. The United States will account for 365 of these IMAX locations while the other 445 locations are in international markets.
IMAX also launched its innovative laser projection system at the film’s premier at the TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX in Los Angeles. The new laser projection system delivers new advances in projection, giving audiences the brightest, sharpest, clearest and most vivid quality. This system also makes huge advances in audio immersion.
IMAX’s Greg Foster, Senior Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp. and CEO of IMAX Entertainment had this to say about the partnership.
“Not only are we excited to be releasing ‘Furious 7′ globally in record-setting fashion, we are delighted to be partnering with Universal Pictures on the first-ever movie premiere event screened with laser.”
“As the most action-packed ‘Fast and Furious’ installment yet, ‘Furious 7′ deserves to be seen in the most awe-inspiring and intense way possible across IMAX screens worldwide.”
