‘Furious 7’ kicked off what it to be a record breaking weekend last night, earning $15.8 million from Thursday night previews.
The number more than doubled that of ‘Fast and Furious 6’s’ $6.5 million when it was released back in May 2013. ‘Furious 7′ is playing at more locations that its predecessor with 3,069 locations showing the film on Thursday night versus “Fast and Furious 6’s’ 2,409 locations.
The film is set to expand this Friday to 4,004 locations and is almost a guarantee to north of $110 million, beating out ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ for the highest opening for a movie in April.
