Last week, Ireland became the first country to legalize same-sex marriage through popular vote, leading to an outpour of happiness. But, where there is an outpouring of emotion, the Westboro Baptist Church is sure to find its way into it. Thankfully, J.K. Rowling was on hand to lay the smackdown on the church after criticizing a tweet that Dumbledore and Lord of the Ring’s Gandalf should get hitched.
After Rowling had posted a meme on her Twitter account responding to a fan, the Westboro Baptist Church descended on the bestselling author of the Harry Potter series in a wave of bigotry. Westboro claimed that if the two famous wizards ever got married, they would be sure to protest the ceremony. Rowling is a pro at taking on everyone from homophobes, misogynists, and other bigots; responding to the “church” and being deliciously ruthless!
YASSSS! She immediately drew fire, with some fans saying that she is just giving them more exposure. Well, Rowling had a response for that as well, and it was just as amazing.
ALL HAIL QUEEN J.K. ROWLING!
