Eddie Redmayne Officially joins ‘Fantastic Beasts’ as Newt Scamander

Warner Bros. announced late Monday that Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne is set to star as Newt Scamander in the Harry Potter spin-off The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The studio also announced that the film will be released on November 18, 2016 in 3D and IMAX worldwide. This will mark author J.K. Rowling’s first foray into scriptwriting; penning the script for the upcoming movie. David Yates who directed the last four Harry Potter movies will also be returning to direct Fantastic Beasts. Harry Potter and Gravity producer David Heyman will also produce.

Redmayne won Best Actor at the Oscars for his portrayal of Steven Hawkings in The Theory of Everything. Fans can see him next in The Danish Girl directed by Tom Hooper.

The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them arrives in theaters November 18, 2016 and stars Eddie Redmayne. The film is directed by David Yates
