‘Jurassic World’ is set to take over the world on June 12 and will definitely get a sequel. It looks like Universal is going to have to find a new director because Colin Trevorrow will not be returning.
The whole crew is currently travelling the world doing press for the movie and Trevorrow revealed to BadTaste.it that another director should get a shot at helming a Jurassic Park movie.
“Jurassic Park is like Star Wars. Different directors can give a different taste to each movie. I would be involved in some way, but not as director.”
‘Jurassic World’ is expected to break the $100 million mark when it debuts in the couple weeks. Universal is reportedly in discussions to put a sequel in motion, but they are waiting to see what the reaction to the latest installment. With that said, major studios are snatching up release dates five years in advance. Universal will need to act fast if they hope to score a strategic release date.
The big question is how a director will be able to add something new to the franchise. Most of the movies follow a formula of dinosaur eats human, human struggles to survive. Whoever helms the fifth installment will have to add something different to diversify it from the rest of them and keep audiences interested.
‘Jurassic World’ comes to theaters June 12th, 2015 and stars Chris Pratt, Ty Simpkins, Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson, and Vincent D’Onofrio. The film is directed by Colin Trevorrow.
