The world of Harry Potter consists of 7 books, 3 smaller works, Pottermore, 8 films and four themes parks around the world and the world is about to get much bigger. In 2016, the highly anticipated spin off, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ will hit theaters and the makers of the films are now giving us some new details about the production.
Based off of the book and screenplay written by J.K. Rowling, the film will tell the story of Newt Scamander’s adventures as he compiles a book of creatures to be known as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. With four time Harry Potter director David Yates returning, as well as producer David Heyman (Harry Potter Franchise, Gravity & Paddington), these spin offs are sure to be one of the biggest events in film history.
David Heyman recently opened up to Collider about filming the upcoming film.
“[It’s] Early, early, early days. Really early days. I mean we’re at the very beginning. We will shoot later on this year. The plan is to shoot late summer. We’re making just one film, but I believe there’s been talk about it being three. But we’re just talking about it as one.”
He also revealed that Harry Potter production designer Stuart Craig has also joined the project.
“The experience of conjuring up these worlds is such fun. So to do it with [Rowling] and with Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram is involved too, and with David Yates, and Stuart Craig will be designing it; it’s great. It’s exciting, and it’s a great world to return to.”
‘Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them’ is set to hit theaters on November 16, 2016. The film will be written by J.K. Rowling and directed by David Yates.
